What is a DUTCH test?
DUTCH stands for Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones. It's an at-home test that measures your sex hormones, their metabolites, and your cortisol pattern across a full day, using a handful of dried urine samples rather than a single blood draw. Because it captures hormone activity at multiple points across the day, it builds a far more complete picture of what your hormones are actually doing than a one-off blood test ever can.
What does a DUTCH test measure, and how is it different from standard bloodwork?
Hormones influence every aspect of your health, from energy and mood to sleep, metabolism, fertility, and reproductive well-being. When they become imbalanced, symptoms often appear long before routine blood tests detect a problem, largely because a single blood draw only captures one moment in time.
A DUTCH test measures hormone production, how your body metabolises those hormones, your daily cortisol pattern, and levels of important nutritional organic acids to give a much deeper understanding of how your body is functioning than hormone levels alone. This test is often used to identify drivers of:

Is DUTCH testing evidence-based?
Yes. DUTCH testing uses established, peer-reviewed methodology for measuring hormone metabolites in urine, an approach that's been used in clinical and research settings for decades, well before it became available as an at-home test. It isn't a substitute for diagnostic bloodwork or medical investigation, and I don't use it that way. It's a tool that adds detail conventional testing doesn't always capture, a tool used alongside your medical history and existing results, not instead of them.
